Do you Hate Your Stretch Marks?

Wednesday, June 4th, 2008

As you probably already know, stretch marks are the result of a fast weight gain. Almost 95% of women gain stretch marks during their pregnancy cycle and many men gets them as a result of intensive body building.  Many women and men hate their stretch marks, i know i hated mine… but you can learn how to get rid of stretch marks.

There is a wide range of stretch marks treatments, but i think we can resume most of them in three big categories.

1 - Stretch marks cream

Stretch marks cream are highly popular because they are affordable compared to other stretch marks removal solution and because they can be quite effective at reducing stretch marks. Personally this is the way i used and it is the type of treatment i recommend at first. There are many stretch marks cream available on the market and it can be quite hard to make the difference between the good ones and the bad ones. This is why i have written a Review about Stretch Marks Creams. You will find my independent review about products like: Zenmed Stretta, Revitol Stretch Marks cream and the new comer on the market TriLASTIN-SR.

The choice is of course up to you. I do recommend this approach simply because it works, but mostly because it is affordable compared to other stretch marks treatments

2- Cosmetic surgery techniques

In many cases you will hear of such techniques as tummy tuck or skin tuck. This procedure is extremely effective but also very expensive. The procedure is simple, they simply remove the affected area, and the  skin is pulled tight over the area and sutured back together in a tummy tuck.

3- Laser Removal techniques

Laser is another solution to get rid of stretch marks. The lasers are used to burn the scar tissues and at the same time to boost the production of new skin cells. This technique is also effective but can cost between $200 and $500 per session…multiple sessions are needed.

Conclusion

You can now see why i do recommend you at least try the natural approach, you don’t have to use the products i talk about here, but at least try a couple before spending your hard earned money on expensive treatments. That’s what i did and it worked.

The Key to Avoiding Stretch Marks During Pregnancy

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

Pregnancy often leaves women with stretch marks. Most women are keen to know about avoiding stretch marks during pregnancy. When there is rapid weight gain, the skin stretches too fast and acquires unsightly marks. Known to dermatologists as striae, these stretch marks begin as red or purple blemishes that turn to silvery white lines on the skin on the areas of the body that grow too quickly.

What is the Key to Avoiding Stretch Marks During Pregnancy?

The body undergoes great changes during pregnancy and avoiding stretch marks during pregnancy is not easy. Despite taking great care, many women find that avoiding stretch marks during pregnancy is not possible. While the possibility of getting stretch marks at this time is quite high, very few women actually succeed in completely avoiding stretch marks during pregnancy.

The most important point to be kept in mind is to moisturize the area that is likely to be affected. Avoiding stretch marks during pregnancy is possible to some extent if areas such as the stomach, breasts, buttocks, arms and thighs are constantly moisturized. Products such as cocoa butter, shea butter and oils should be applied a minimum of twice a day to minimize the possibility of stretch marks.

Another idea that can help in avoiding stretch marks during pregnancy is to ensure that weight gained during pregnancy is within the limits set by your obstetrician. If one is able to control weight gained during this time to these recommended levels, the stomach is likely to be the only area that grows, while the rest of the body will gain only smaller amounts of weight. This will contain stretch marks, ensuring that they are limited to the stomach region. While some women do maintain their weight at levels recommended by their doctors, it is not possible for all women to do this. While it is inevitable that weight is gained during pregnancy, a slower increase kept within limits allows the skin the needed time to adjust to the growth of the belly, instead of a rapid increase in weight.

One of the important keys to avoiding stretch marks during pregnancy is to keep skin moisturized and supple. Along with this approach another way is to keep weight gain at a lower but healthy level. After all these precautions if they still appear, a moisturizer is recommended, in the hope that the stretch marks will eventually disappear.
